E-MAILING PHOTOS

Are you sending photos via E-Mail exactly as they came out of the camera?  Have you ever received a photo that you could only see part of the photo?  This is what happens if you don’t re-size the photo first.  Have you ever started to download a photo only to see that it will take 8 – 15 minutes to download?  Same deal.  Now that cameras with 4 or 5 MP are common and affordable these problems are becoming more common and more severe.

What you need to do is change the photo using some “photo editing” software.  Check the CD that came with your camera for such.  Or you may wish to purchase and learn to use software such as Microsoft “Picture It” or Adobe “Photoshop Elements or any of a dozen others.  If your computer came with “Roxio” CD burning software, it includes such.  It will take a short time to learn but the results will be worth it.  Some software has a “Save for E-Mail” feature which does everything you need to do in one step.

Here is what I recommend, at least:  1. resize the photo making the longer dimension 6 inches and the resolution 96 (150 if you think the recipient will want to print it).  2. other enhancements that you may wish to make such as, “Instant Fix”, “Lighten or Darken” and “Increase or Decrease the Contrast”.

Keep the people at the other end happy to be receiving your great photos.  An option that works well is to send the photo as an attachment.

Send a photo to your self to see what your friends have been having to put up with.
